Local
Schools Visit Madison
One of my
favorite parts of my job is getting to meet the young kids from our
district who come to visit the Capitol. This week, the 4th graders from
Gibraltar Elementary and the 5th graders from Sunrise Elementary had
their field trips to Madison and it was so wonderful to see them absorb
the beauty of the Capitol and learn about the fascinating history of our
state. I always encourage anyone who wants to to come down to Madison
and tour the Capitol. If this is something your family wants to do,
reach out to my office and we will be happy to set up a tour for you!

Additional TMDL Sessions Held
This Monday, there were two additional
sessions in our region to discuss the proposed
Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL)
study. Representatives Katsma and Vorpagel hosted a TMDL informational session in
Sheboygan and Representatives Jacque and Tittl hosted a session in
Manitowoc. I was happy to attend both and hear public input from our
neighboring counties.
We had a great discussion with members of
the public and their enthusiasm for the studies was promising.
This
study would represent a crucial step in cleaning up the rivers of Door,
Kewaunee, Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties and reducing the algal blooms
on the lake and bay. It is an opportunity for our conservation groups,
agricultural interests and sportsmen to work together to fix a serious
problem.
I look forward to continue working with
my colleagues as we begin developing a plan to bring the study forward.
For more information regarding the proposed TMDL study, please contact

Final Joint Committee on Finance Public Hearing
in Marinette
Today, I had the opportunity to attend
the sixth and final Joint Committee on Finance Public Hearing in
Marinette. As the budget process begins, the Joint Committee on Finance,
the committee tasked with reviewing the budget, makes its way around the
state to hear from the public. Public input is a crucial part of making
changes to the budget and we have already seen its impact this session. In the Governor's
proposed budget, he proposed making segregated fees at UW System schools
optional. Because of the public outcry and input from students, the
Joint Committee on Finance has removed that proposal.
Here is a photo of the public hearing with
the Joint Committee on Finance:

Spring
Survey Available Online
My 2017
Spring Survey is available on my website. Thank you to those of you who
have already submitted your responses, I am looking forward to your
input. The survey is a great way for me
to take the 'pulse' of our district. Knowing where you stand on
important issues is crucial for my decision making as we begin
deliberations on
the budget.
Please take the time to fill out the
survey by clicking
