Clean Water Access Bill

Click on the picture below to watch my video about the Clean Water Access bill I recently introduced. You can also read my statement on the bill here.

Governor's Conference on Tourism

This past Monday, I attended the Governor's Conference on Tourism. The Conference was a wonderful opportunity to gain insight into the Department of Tourism's new initiatives and also connect with tourism leaders from the 1st District. The Department revealed their new summer commercials, which you can check out here and here. There were also many productive discussions on how to highlight our district's unique tourism draws and enhance our tourism industry. As one of the main economic drivers of our area, the value of tourism to the 1st District cannot be overstated.

I am pictured below with Secretary of Tourism Stephanie Klett.

School Board Members Visit Office

Earlier this week, several school board members from our district visited my office in Madison as part of the Wisconsin School Board Association's Lobby Day.  I spoke with President of the Sevastopol School Board Sue Todey, and from the Algoma School Board President Barbara Rodgers, Treasurer Patricia Qualman, and Board Member John Pabich. We had a thoughtful discussion about the value our schools provide to their communities and discussed some of the challenges facing our schools.

Thanks for stopping by!

TMDL Study Informational Session

On Monday I will be hosting a TMDL Study Informational Session by the DNR at the Algoma City Hall. The speakers will be Brian Weigel, Chief of Water Evaluation at the Water Quality Bureau, and Kevin Kirsch, Statewide TMDL Coordinator.  TMDL studies are an important step in cleansing our rivers. By pinpointing the amounts and sources of total phosphorous (TP) and total suspended solids (TSS) we can implement strategies and qualify for grant funding to clean our waterways. It is our hope that we can return the rivers of our area to the clean trout streams they once were. You can read my full statement on this here.

I look forward to seeing all interested parties at the session as we discuss our area’s precious natural resources.

Where: Council Chambers, Algoma City Hall, 416 Fremont St. Algoma, WI 54201

When: Monday, March 20th from 2:30pm --4:30pm

In-District Listening Session on Budget

This coming Monday, I will be holding a listening session on the Governor's proposed budget at the Town of Scott Town Hall. I am eager to hear my constituents' insights on the budget and listen to what your priorities are.
I found last month's sessions very informative and appreciate the dialogue that was had. I am proud of the public engagement in our district and enjoyed the chance to speak with you all. I look forward to a productive session on Monday!

I will be available to meet with constituents at the location and time listed below:
