December 2, 2016

Hello, and welcome to the latest edition of my E-Update!

Listening Sessions

With elections over, the Assembly is preparing for the 2017-18 legislative session.  I want to take this opportunity to connect with my constituents before the budget process begins and discuss the future of our district.

I will be available to meet with constituents at the locations and times listed below:

Door County Listening Session
Where: Sturgeon Bay Library; Jane Green Room
When: Monday, December 5th from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Kewaunee County Listening Sessions
Where: Algoma City Hall; Council Chambers
When: Monday, December 5th from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Additional listening sessions are also in the works.  I plan to have sessions in as many communities as possible.

Open to Visit

Over the past several months, I have enjoyed sitting down with constituents for coffee and discussion pertaining to local and state issues.  Before the 2017-18 legislative session begins, I want to visit as many constituent groups in the 1st Assembly District as possible.  Gathering constituent input is one of my top priorities, and it is important for me to know what your priorities are before the Assembly gavels in in January.  These meetings help me to serve the district when voting on issues in Madison and continuing to discuss local and state issues in person is the best way to ensure I am representing you.

If you have a group that want to schedule a date and time to get together and discuss any issues of concern, please call or email my office.

Capitol Christmas Tree

Today was the lighting ceremony for the Capitol Christmas tree at the Wisconsin State Capitol.  Every year, students from across the state make ornaments by hand to decorate the tree.  This year's theme for the ornaments is Wisconsin Wildlife.

The tree is a 35ft balsam fir and was donated by Bruce and Charlotte Carey from their property in Eagle River.

The Department of Administration Secretary, Scott Neitzel, hosted the ceremony, and he was joined by the Carey family for the lighting of the tree.  We were also joined by the Northland Pines High School Choir, who sang a number of Christmas carols to celebrate the beginning of the Holiday season.

It is certainly worth your time to stop by and see the tree if you plan to be in Madison during the month of December.  As always, make sure to stop by my office as well.

Happy Holidays everyone!
