Employment Opportunities: Legislative Program Analyst
The Legislative Audit Bureau is a nonpartisan legislative service agency responsible for conducting program evaluations and financial audits to ensure public accountability for state resources.
Job Duties: The Legislative Program Analyst helps conduct program evaluations by collecting and analyzing performance information using qualitative and quantitative methods, such as interviews and statistical sampling. Related responsibilities include preparing supporting documentation and developing management improvement recommendations for agency consideration, as well as policy and program proposals for legislative consideration. Analysts also participate in the drafting of reports, which are the typical work-product of each program evaluation.
Candidate Qualifications: This position requires knowledge of planning methods and techniques, management and public policy analysis and development, and methods of measuring program effectiveness and efficiency; ability to communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to determine and apply efficient and appropriate research strategies; and ability to work effectively in a team setting. Such skills are typically acquired through the attainment of a graduate degree in such academic fields as public policy, public administration, political science, economics, business administration, and urban and regional planning.
Our team-based, nonpartisan office is seeking both entry-level applicants and experienced professionals with relevant skills.
This recruitment is directed to persons who are legally authorized to work in the United States and will not require employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. A background check will be conducted on all finalists prior to an offer of employment.
Compensation: Compensation includes an entry-level starting salary of $48,000 per year. Higher starting salaries are dependent on demonstrated relevant professional experience. The State of Wisconsin also provides a comprehensive fringe benefit package that includes health insurance, retirement, and paid leave. A probationary period is required of all newly hired analysts.
